I'm having a difficult time finding the difference between a spool driver pin lock and a standard pin lock. Do these get picked in a different way? Any info would be great….thanks in advance!

The spool pin is shaped like a spool so when you are trying to pick the lock with the lifter picking method it will get wedge sideways in the lock below the shear line, preventing the lock from opening. I believe you can tell its a spool pin because it makes a loud click when it gets stuck and the plug will move slightly. To bypass the spool pins you can use rake picking with very light pressure on the tension wrench

Ah….the pin wedging was the only part that I wasn't finding online…and without that I had no idea why it was better. Thank you much, that helped a great deal.
